FIRST MAMMOGRAMS DONE IN CARRIACOU

 Carriacou Health Services (CHS) was founded in 2003; we broke ground October 2003 and despite two hurricanes opened on July 29th, 2005, saw our first patients August 5th, 2005. The Mission of CHS is to provide quality, compassionate healthcare services to the people of Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique, the Grenadines and Worldwide that embrace our values of quality, human dignity and community. 

As stated at the opening, we are developing and bringing in the services gradually since "Rome was not built in a Day" but we are proud of the fact that within ten months of opening we have and are providing a wide variety of services.

 Friday June 30^th and Saturday, July 1^st, 2006 saw another first for Carriacou when CHS provided Mammography Services for the first time ever in Carriacou. We had a radiologist and mammogram technician on site. Patients came in, had mammograms performed and received the results of their mammograms before leaving the center. In addition, patients received information on doing breast self exams and the importance of having a mammogram to screen for breast cancer. If they needed a breast sonogram based on the results of the mammogram, they were able to have it done the same day. The radiologist was on site also performing ultrasounds and reading x-rays and providing the reports to the patients. 

 We also had a pediatrician in house and continued with our usual hours of seeing patients for medical and gynecological examinations. If you are interested in having us provide you your medical care, please do not hesitate to call us at 443-8CHS (247). We are open Monday to Fridays for appointments and walk-ins and our after- hours number is 417-6102.
