Second Anniversary of the Opening of CHS

Once again Carriacou Health Services has reached another Milestone; Sunday, July 29th, 2007 is significant because it is two years to the day of the opening of the Health Center. What an accomplishment! CHS is thankful to all who assisted us. CHS is not yet where we want it to be but we maintain our way on the road which is winding and bumpy and continue to push forward. All that has been accomplished could not have occurred without the Grace of God and the prayers and support of so many people. A special Thank You is extended to all who assisted us. The list is numerous but there are special people that we would like to mention. A World of Thanks first and foremost to our hardworking staff, Ms. Sheena Bristol, Ms. Pamela Collins, Ms. Valerie Jerome, Ms. Mary Simon, RN, Mr. Theo Jerome, Mr. Jerad Allen and we have a new addition, Ms. Mearlyn Joseph. Special thanks to Mr. Jeovanni Rivas, Dr. Margaret Odili, Dr. Susan Thomas and Dr. Tyrone Davis, who are always there for us rain or shine and will come to our assistance at a “Drop of a Hat”. Thank you to Dr. Christofer Ashby who sees something special in CHS and the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Dr. Ashby has provided financial assistance to 13 patients unable to pay for treatment through subsidizing a surgical team and paying for their surgeries and other medical procedures at CHS. He helps us keep our goal of providing service to everyone who walks through our door regardless of their ability to pay.
A special thank you to Fr. Augustine. He prays for us every day and gives us constant words of support. He is our direct line to God. Thanks to Ms. Eunice Baptize, RN, Ms. Ann Marie Bullen, RN, Ms. Elizabeth Cross, RN, Mr. Waine Campbell and the additional nurses working with us during surgeries and deliveries. They are always ready to provide their assistance. Thank you to Mr. Ken Joseph, Mr. Duane Williams, Mr. Neal Matheson and the Bristol Family for their constant support and instant availability whenever needed. Thanks to SVG Air for assisting us with patient transfers to Grenada when needed. Thank you to The Grand View Hotel and Spice Isle Imaging for giving us special consideration and working with us time and time again. A word of thanks to The Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell and his Staff for their support and referrals. In the United States, we send special thanks to The Mary Washington Hospital Cytology Department and Mr. Roy Noel, the Friends of CHS, Hillsborough Construction Corp. and Carriacou Charitable Health Services for their work, donations and constant support. We have a newly formed organization, CHS Steering Committee in Carriacou, who are providing support, advice and sweat labor to the Center and we greatly appreciate it. We have many thanks to all those who have worked with us over the last year for different periods of time and in different capacities. Even though you are not named individually, your assistance is acknowledged and greatly appreciated.
In reflecting on the past year, we have been on an uphill journey with some setbacks and some accomplishments as well. We have been able to provide additional medical services due to the various Health Professionals who provide their service once per month and who travel overseas taking time out from their busy schedules to work with us. We are greatly appreciative. We are now providing Pediatric Services with Dr. Nelson, Ear, Nose and Throat Services with Dr. Hage, Chiropractic Services with Dr. McSween, Urology Services with Dr. Yearwood and Orthopedic Services with Dr. Dragon. In addition, Dr. Hage has initiated a Hearing Program for children 4 years and younger to identify those with Hearing Problems. Over the last 12 months, we have delivered 16 infants and performed 39 surgeries for a total of 27 CHS Infants and 51 Surgeries on-site since opening. We continue to provide our service of Adult Medicine, Obstetrical and Gynecological Care, Radiology, Pharmaceutical and Laboratory Services. We encourage all to join our Health and Fitness Center to keep in shape and maintain their health.
The Mission of CHS is to provide quality, compassionate healthcare services to the people of Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique, the Grenadines and Worldwide that embrace our values of quality, human dignity and community. No one is turned away based on his/her inability to pay.
CHS is opened 5 days a week for scheduled appointments, walk-ins are welcomed and we provide coverage after hours. The services provided at CHS have been made possible with the hard work of a dedicated few who have given their time, money and resources.
